His girlfriend or "associate", one of her many aliases being Laura Murphy, might be carrying on. Nothing is as it seems with these type of people, always playing a con. |

What does it mean? That all those stamps are fake? Stolen? If a seller is involved in criminal activity, I think ebay has a way to report them. |

ebay does not care about a person's criminal record. The ONLY criteria for an ebay account is a bank account of some kind. (I could go open a bank account in my dog's name.) The dirty little secret with ebay is that they do ZERO vetting of the accounts. No one wants to talk about this because it totally undermines buyer confidence; so lets just continue to pretend that all the anonymous people on ebay are good people who will not take advantage of others. come on guys! As someone who has worked in a prison, as a cop, he needs shower shoes, cigarettes, and money on the 'books', just in case he decides to play cards with the wrong group and has to'pay' or end up 'paying' the wrong way--Trash, pure trash that guy- |

Unless I have missed it on this thread, I do not recall reading an answer to RobRoy's question: what does it all mean? Speaking about MR Ryle's history, business practices, "record" is one thing. I am more interesting hearing of forum members experiences with the stamps being offered by banknotes and og stamps themselves. Have they proven substantially misrepresented ? Since most if not all are offered without certs, can someone describe a purchase from one of these websites and subsequent submission of the stamp to PF, PSE, APEX, Weiss? |

Bought a US #245 - the $5 Columbian - that was described as unused, NH, original gum. Sent it to PSE. Cert came back "genuine, unused, re-gummed over a filled thin and re-perforated on the right". Sent it back and got a full refund, but it took some time. Also, I was out the cost of the cert. This purchase was from one of his now-defunct ebay accounts (Tenshillings). |

Uboatnut: thank you for your report. This is exactly what I am looking for. How about others with stories about stamps that turned out not to be as described or alternatively those that proved on certification to be accurate to the description at the time of sale. |

funcitypapa, As Rhett mentioned above, there are endless threads which illustrate the deceptive listings and outright fraud that this person is responsible for; there are also numerous threads and posts in other philatelic forums which document the history. Also note that this person as a history of coming into this community, making fake accounts, and then posting support for his material. This happened often enough that anytime I see a post that supports him I immediately being investigating the account. I can only think of a single time that there was a post that supported him and it was not him. In that case, the person had not sent in the stamp for a cert and was satisfied in just mounting the material and moving on. Additionally, few folks are willing to publicly tell others that they made a huge mistake. And on the flip side, there are some notable experts which refuse to publicly say anything negative about him because of his history of revenge. He has a documented history of doing things like making fake Facebook accounts which make a person look like a criminal. On one occasion, he purchased a domain name and established a website making a person appear to be a pedophile. There is also a documented history of him making 'revenge' purchased from people on ebay with the sole purpose of trashing the sellers feedback rating. Lastly, he has/had at least 40-50 ebay accounts so in some cases folks might not even be aware they have made purchased from him. The philatelic press has ignored this story for the last 20 years. Due to the above, the feedback you are seeking is not likely to give you a lot of quality information. Don |

https://www.ebay.com/sch/bank-notes/m.html has had some very suspicious looking auctions lately. Great looking material but the prices achieved and number of bidders were quite uncharacteristic of my ebay experience. If you go to his store and view completed/sold listings you can see numerous examples in the last 2-3 weeks. Shilling going on? |
