Anyone here suspicious of fire sales on ebay? They typically are good deals with a one-day duration.

As an example, look at ebay item number: 153227017095 --- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Forever-st...AOSwhu9bzKM9

Bidding started at $20 with a buy it now price of $30 (+ $3.50 US shipping) for this coil of 100 Forever stamps. The seller sold a few. All were picked up at the buy it now price.
Assuming the goods are genuine, it is a good deal but the low asking price and speed of the sale do not seem right.

Hi

I personally would think that the rolls were stolen merchandise from somewhere. No one would intentionally lose $20 for a roll of current, valid stamps that they had just bought.

Given the seller's low feedback number, that is almost certainly the case here.

A lot of these have been sold that were counterfeit. Be careful buying these as Jim states above

The vast majority of modern U.S. stamps which are counterfeited are being sold at large discounts on ebay.

The postal service has been made aware of it and they do nothing because they know they are coming from China and they cannot stop them.

At least that's the story you keep seeing when the issue comes up in the philatelic press.

This is more than suspicious to me and I would stay away from them.

On the other hand though you can get some very good buys on commemoratives, some going back to the 1940's, at large discounts from Face. That is usually where I buy my postage for philatelic mailings.
Just do a search such as discount postage, but shop around many offers are better than others.

Just another reason why stamps are at their very end of mailing usefulness.

Sad but true especially if you collect only used stamps.
