None are fakes. The Red Line Stamp has no top and bottom perforations and is not aliened. Other are also not aliened but I don't know if that is considered an error. Can any of these stamps be valuable ?

By "aliened", I am assuming you meant "aligned", as in the centering of the stamps is very poor. This is a very common situation, hence the ratings of F-VF, Fine, Good, Average, etc. The Scott Catalog and Stanley Gibbons both have illustrations in the front to show the differences.
Unless it is grossly miss-aligned, like 1/4 to 1/2 of the stamp on the wrong side, the value is very poor, and almost worthless to many people. Keep looking, and welcome to the Forum. |

The two stamps with no perforations at the top and bottom are coil stamps. They were sold in rolls and do not have top or bottom perforations. |

Philazilla thanks for your candid on honest opinion. For my edification, based on the picture alone, not on "what most likely" can you say that the 1¢ green Franklin stamp is not either a Scott 594 or 596? If you can, then please tell me what you have seen to confirm without a doubt that it is not? |

I did not examine the scans of the stamps closely. You posted pictures of lottery tickets. Four of your lottery tickets (top left and all 3 on the bottom) could theoretically be winners based just on what the face looks like. However, your odds are MUCH less than winning the latest mega-millions. The common stamps are BILLIONS of times more common than the rare ones. Not only, that, but your lottery tickets have almost for sure been checked already a few times in the last 100 years. Could they be winners? In theory, sure - just like you could post a picture of a lottery ticket and it could be a winner. If you want to check your tickets to see if they are winners, you can't really easily do it with scans. You just need to check them in-person with a few cheap tools: a perf gauge, a magnifying glass, a watermark tray and fluid, and a reference to tell you how to tell the cheap ones from the valuable ones. For your stamps, you can use the Scott catalog or the online reference that 51Studebaker recommends. And if you think you have a winner after checking and rechecking the perfs watermarks and tiny details in the stamp, it is much more likely that you have a fake than a real winner. But it is possible. . .Good luck! |
