The ABC contracted with many Latin American countries to produce stamps at various times in the past. Does anyone know of a listing or catalogue of those issues? I've found that some very high quality engraved stamps are available from these countries at very reasonable prices. Example attached.

Thanks

Charlie

I was not the first person to consider an ABNCo-only collection, and you won't be the last

Don't forget to include the, you know, bank notes ABNCo printed along with the various types of stamps from the various countries.

You should immediately treat yourself to a copy of The Story Of American Bank Note Company, by William H Griffiths.

Search "ABNCo" on this site, and down the rabbit hole you'll go!

The American Bank Note Company, New York, NY, U.S.A. and its subsidiaries The American Bank Note Company, Ottawa, ON, CA and The Canadian Bank Note Company, Ottawa, ON, CA printed many Canada postage stamps over many years. Their specialty was recess line engraved (intaglio) printing.

Thank you to all who responded. Good information on the company. I still wonder if someone has listed the issues by country they printed. My specific interest is in Latin America. Thx again.

Generally, a clue as to their printed stamps would be that they were mostly engraved and had perforation 12 gauge mostly.

Q/ And did their name not appear on many/most of them?

Q/ Or is this just the World's Worst Case of Confirmation Bias? (*)

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

(*) I forget the correct term, but there is jargon for assuming universality from frequency.
