Can anyone figure this one out? It looks to me like 335 but it could be 835. Any thoughts? Thanks for looking!

335 = Lime Kilns.
Care of SCF member Bobby De La Rue:
Inverlochy opened 1/4/1861 closed 30/6/1861 – should've received numeral 335 in the chronology. This numeral is allocated to Lime Kilns which opened 1/8/1861 so it's possible 335 went to Inverlochy first.
835 = WOLLONGBAR
Just a thought........browsing my collection, I don't see any dotted Pmks, mainly barred numerals, this may be a starred ? Queensland strike. (joint hammer strike, you can see part of a duplex barred numeral as well) You'll need a Aussie Pmk expert.

Unable to find a "Broken Rays" Pmk of 335 (These rays were used in NSW)
The Barred Duplex strike, in my opinion suits a circumference name of 8 letters, giving 1 choice, BATHURST.
Only Pmks ending in HURST Bathurst Blakehurst Brocklehurst Copmanhurst Darlinghurst Dellhurst Edenhurst Kenthurst Lyndhurst Normanhurst Peakhurst Penshurst Sandhurst

I think we have it sorted,
Dual strike, 1. Lime Kilns NSW (Broken Rays numeral 335) 2. BATHURST strike on receival.
Limekilns is a rural locality in the Central West region of New South Wales. The closest major town is Bathurst, and the local government area is the Bathurst Regional Council. Limekilns had a population of 111 people at the time of the 2016 Australian census.[1]
Ben Chifley, the Prime Minister of Australia from 1945 to 1949, lived with his grandfather in Limekilns between the ages of five and thirteen. Another notable resident was Daniel Clyne, a Speaker of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly.
All we have to do, to prove, is to find a 335 broken ray reference, or image.

Great detective work, there, rod222. You're obviously very good at this sort of thing, so I assume you have done a fair bit of work on NSW numerals?
I couldn't read the letters of the datestamp, but I could see that it couldn't be LIME KILNS or WOLLONGBAR. It does look like it could be "URST" so this has to be the solution.
It's definitely a broken rays type. I'll check to see if I have any other examples. Lime Kilns sounds familiar, so perhaps I've run into one before. |

Quote: so I assume you have done a fair bit of work on NSW numerals? Not really JJ, my interest is mainly Western Australian Pmks, however, I do like a challenge :) Your 335 or 835 Broken rays, may be a scarcity, Premier Postal is the "go to" source, but lots of work there. or, email a NSW pmk blogger / philatelic society. |

rod, thanks for your help. I found a Phoenix Auctions listing: Lime Kilns Rays type 2R32 is rated RR.
This came from a lot of 2d blue QVs in which I found a really good BN602 of Enngonia (RRRR). I can post a scan if you'd like to see it. |

Here's mine: Now known as Limekilns. Not sure when the change occurred but it was still two words in the early 1970s and one by 1994 (proving maps consulted - every postal historian should have a good collection of maps ). Rod is correct, Bathurst receiving (NOT transit) postmark. The style of numeral postmark for 835 is 3 dashes in the rays rather than 4 dots. Good finds jimjamtwo! PS: Apologies for my absence, just had nearly 6 weeks in UK/Ireland and just getting over the jetlag in the last day or two. |

It's always best to find a well-centered strike on a pair, Bobby! Thanks for showing. |
