I seem to recall seeing something on here some time ago about Amos updating their website and creating issues for existing account holders in signing in to order. Amos does apparently not allow you to order without creating an account.
I had my basket filled and ready to go this morning, over $300 worth of merchandise. I then found my login and password not working. I was prompted to create a new account, when doing so I was told 'you already have an account'. I just went in circles.
It was Sunday and I needed to get n order off, if not to them then to one of their competitors, so that's what I did. Amos lost out on a nice sale due to some bug with their site.
Does anyone recall what the problem is and how to fix it, does it require me to contact them?
Well, apparently nobody else is having this issue. I did email Amos yesterday and will be happy to share what they say, assuming there is some interest.
I've had similar problems with Amos Advantage's recently redesigned but still-clunky website. It's riddled with silly design errors such as putting all Finland pages under "Finland Aland Islands" but not under the preceding tab for "Finland" where you'd be more likely to look. This sort of thing should be ironed out after a website has been up for months. Apparently, Amos does not have anyone who actually checks each listing to see if it's in the right place. They mark multiple items "backordered" for months and months without ever getting them in stock -- even though they're the creators of that stock. It's like Alice in Wonderland sometimes.
I use the website frequently which is how I've come across these -- and other -- problems. I always advise them very tactfully when they've misplaced an item, and so forth. These are problems they could easily know about if they looked at their own website. I challenge someone at an executive level at Amos to spend 30 minutes every day looking at their own website and finding errors. If they can tear themselves away from meetings or lunch or cocktails or whatever they do with their time out there in rural Ohio.
The log-in problem is a strange one that I've also encountered. I've been registered with Amos as a customer since I began purchasing from them many years ago. They have my name, address, email address, credit card number, the whole works -- and I give it all to them again every time I purchase something. But their website can't remember any of it. Other websites can. Other websites know my dog's name, where I was born, and my favorite color. Amos's website has no idea who I am.
The website won't accept my log-in name and my password. I've tried to delete my account and start over, but the website won't permit that. When I enter my email address, it says I already have an account. But that's the account they won't accept. So, I too go in circles.
It's a form of insanity to set up your website so it rejects people who want to purchase your products and then rejects them a second time when they try to re-register using a different log-in name. I am not changing my email address just for Amos Advantage. Nor am I changing my actual name or address. All of those I plan to keep.
What I do is to phone them and give my order to an actual person the old-fashioned way -- and I mention the log-in problem every time. But it's never fixed. Or I purchase as a "guest" or whatever they call it. Absurd. Like belonging to an expensive private club which refuses to admit you're actually a member but let's you in anyway just as a "special consideration" and still keeps taking your money. Time-consuming and a little insulting.
Fix the problems with your website, Amos! It's getting tiresome.
Nicole Ingle of Amos contacted me today and told me to use my email address and then type 'amos123' as the password. I did so and was then able to update my password. It's all OK now. Meanwhile they missed out on a large order that went to IHobb instead- that one is out for delivery today.
