Good morning to the forum. I'm a newbie here on the forum. I wouldn't describe myself as a stamp collector but like most kids in the Uk that grew up I the late 50's early 60's I collected stamps. When my children were old enough I passed my small collection onto them and they added a few over time but never really got into collecting. To cut a long story short I came across my old collection in a loft clearance recently and asked my daughter if she wanted to have them (again). She declined..anyway rather than dispose of them I thought it would be nice that if there are any worth anything (which I'm doubtful of) I could sell them and gift her as a surprise the proceeds from what I'm loosely calling her inheritance. To that end I wonder if members can see any value in my old collection. If not I plan to donate them to a someone locally who are just starting up in the stamp collecting. I have various British Kings, Queen Elizabeth, Special occasions etc. If It's ok I'll trying post a few photos over the next day or so, if I can work it out but I'll start with what I think are the oldest. Hope that's ok many thanks

Hello, and welcome. I'm afraid that these are common stamps that pop up in the old collections of schoolchildren - like yours. Much more to spend your children's inheritance. |

Having grown up in London, your images bring back happy memories of my first few years as a collector and stamps I still have to this day. Like yours, mine aren't worth a whole lot but from a nostalgic perspective, they're priceless. |

Yes, like my childhood collection too. The only thing of any note- and it will not bring riches, is the GB red 5 pound QEII, as well as that pair of 6c orange QEII 1967 centenial issue- looks like about perf 8 or a bit and may even be flourescent ink.

The Iringa postmark on the KUT 20c probably warrants a little investigation. It couldn't be that common could it? It's not on the coast and it's not on the railway line. |
