Unless I am missing something, this stamp is not even close to "rare". It has a catalog value of $4.50 in used condition in Scott.

$4.5 only if it is the large-sized unwatermarked Scott 141. Much more likely to be the smaller Scott 175 or 300, in which case $.29

It was either issued in 1949 or 1956, it isn't rare, it is a very common stamp and as it is used, the value of the stamp is about AU$0.50 cents.

The large version of this design was issued in 1932 with no watermark.

The smaller versions were issued in
- 1937 (CofA watermark, perf 13½ x 14)
- 1941 (CofA watermark, perf 15 x 14)
then
- 1956 (No watermark, perf 15 x 14).

What a silly mistake, it is either 1941 or 1956.

To know which is which, count the perforation tops end to end. If the top of the stamp has 14 perforation tips it was issued in 1937; if it has 15 perforation tips it was issued in 1941 or 1956, to work out which year, the 1941 has a watermark, the 1956 was printed without a watermark.
