What is a reasonable percentage of face value to pay on e-commerce sites such as ebay for non-collectible unused excellent condition modern common under 50c FV stamps to be used for postage, whether they be sheets, plate blocks or loose?

Should one pay less for large size common horizontal stamps such as the 29c Elvis, 34c Baseball's Legendary Playing Fields because one can use less on an envelope or package due to size vs the 32c Swan stamps, which are small?

What is a reasonable percentage of face value to pay for common non-collectible higher denomination $1, $2, $5, $10 stamps?

At auction in the UK, estimates - and realisations - are usually 50-60% of face, plus buyer's premium for a range of low to high values. I assume that US experience is broadly similar. I haven't bought mint stamps for pistage on ebay.

On ebay, it will be similar in total at 60-70% of face. There is a "sold" checkbox for the category "US mint postage stamp lots" which you can check for pricing. Don't forget that you are probably paying shipping also.

No difference for small stamps, with commemoratives actually preferred but 3c-10c stamps disliked.

$1 face and up stamps probably will be undiscounted or so little discounted that shipping will overcome any discount. They are (obviously) in higher demand for shipping by those who use stamps.

70% including shipping is reasonable. The real bargain comes if you get a permit (free) to use precancels. Then you can use all those junk "Bulk Rate" and fractional coils which you can buy at 50% of face. All you have to do is to stamp or write "First Class" on the mailpiece

My experience has been .01 to .18 is at 50% , .19 to .50 cents at 60 -70% for MNH . Above .60 including $1,$2 or more around 80% to face . Plate blocks and coils would fall into these same numbers .

When I buy ,I do expect to find a few better issues in that inventory . Regency Stamp Auctions tended to sneak in NO GUM and Damaged stamps into those above figures . A caution note here that sometimes you get stamps that can't be used as postage such as bulk rate or permit only stamps are mixed in .

Appreciate all your comments on pricing. They are what I have experienced. I recently purchased two panes of 50 US 2224 Liberty 22c stamps at 63% of FV to use on envelopes with a lot of 6c flag stamps that I inherited for a nice patriotic theme.

Now that I am set for a while on stamps for envelopes, for use on packages that might cost $10 to $20 to mail, would you rather pay 63% of FV for sixty 42c stamps or 50% of FV for eighty 29c stamps? I saw these two options recently and thought that even though the 42c stamps will go farther in helping to pay the postage cost of the package, it's more frugal to pay the lowest FV. Is this correct? Which option would you have chosen?

TORIN ----In the past for me and I know 2 guys at our stamp club ,all of us would go with the lower percentage lot . If your selling thru the mails ,customers enjoy getting a variety of stamps on each piece of mail.

Fast forward 1.5 years later, it is getting difficult to find discount postage for less than 80% of FV. Glad I purchased postage lots in the past.
