A distant relative gave me his collection of Switzerland stamps, probably because I'm the only stamp collector in the extended family. I have collected U.S. and Canada stamps (and coins) for a long time, but virtually nothing outside that.

The collection is large (part of it is pictured below). I estimate that there are at least 15,000 stamps. There are 9 boxes of glassines. I've put everything in order. #7-1091 Regular issues (1850-2000), #201-1105 International Series, Pro Patria/Pro Juventute B1-623, Air Mails, Postage Dues, Officials.

There are gaps in the series, mostly the very expensive examples, but there are many high value stamps. There are also many duplicates of stamps, both unused and canceled.

There are 3 albums (2 shown), two of which have mixes of canceled and unused stamps. One album has only unused stamps.

Not sure what I'll do with all of this. I'm thinking of making one (mostly) complete album for my son. I'll probably post some interesting examples as I comb through them again. Any requests?

Regards,
Kevin

Have your son assemble the one album. Doing it and giving it to him will not generate interest and possession. IMHO.

Not to go all thesis-antithesis-synthesis on y'all, but ... do it together?

I'd create two albums, either one for mint, one for used, or mint page followed by used page.

That looks like a nice inheritance and a good plan. Switzerland is a nice country to collect. I'd like to make a suggestion. As you go through all those glassines take the best ones for your collection and put the rest on stock sheets. That way you can see what you have and if you decide to sell the extras it will be much easier to sell them on stock pages. You can sell them and but more stamps!

Have fun!
