I need help with these stamps to make sure that I have both types. I think that the left stamp would be the Type I and the center would be Type II.

I have put the 5c to show that the center and right stamp seem to have the same thickness but the left stamp seems thinner to me.

If not, can someone show me the difference.

Dan

I'll have a go. I'd have said that your left-hand 4c stamp and the 5c appear to be Type I - the lettering of "cents" on the centre 4c stamp is chunkier. Look at the downward bar of the "T" on the centre stamp.

Thanks for your reply Geoff.

I am not home right now but if my memory is correct Scott cat mentions that only the 4 cent had the two types.

I will check out this info in the morning.

No - Yvert and Maury list five stamps as issued in both I (thin) and II (thicker) - 4c; 5c; 10c; 11c; and 12c - in April and October 1922 respectively.

Regards.

Geoff

Geoff,

Thank you for your answer.

I was trying to separate the 4c stamps and kind of forgot about the other values but the mention was there all the time that indeed the 4, 5, 6 and 10-12 are found with both types.

This was all news to me, Scott does not mention.
I shall have to re appraise my collection.
(I gave away what I thought were duplicates)

I see the "less chunky" typeface on the 10c ?
