Hi all, I inherited a world stamp collection in tattered albums and want to work on the collection and transfer them into new albums. I got the Scott International "Big Blue." I'm used to three-ring binders but not the kind of posts in the Big Blue albums. The pages are curved when the album is open. Is it better to remove the pages when adding a large quantity of stamps so that the pages lie flat? Thanks!

The pages in the Big Blue will never lie flat however you can remove some of the pages and put them in a new binder if you choose. It is going to be what you like best. Good luck.

Welcome.
Yes, when I sometimes have a lot of stamps to mount I will remove the pages from the album and work with them flat.

Agree with WKUSAU ......The Big Blue are horrible to work with when there are loads of stamps on the pages . I have purchased extra binders {not cheap} to expand my worldwide collection .

One reason I chose not to use the BIG BLUE albums, and instead I chose to print one sided pages and use smaller (much smaller) albums, like 1" binders. Yes there will be a whole lot more albums, but each is much more manageable.

Yes Big blue is annoying that way. Although, to be fine, most non-ringed binders have the same problem, such as Lighthouse.

I do like my old hardbound IPSA Junior - pages lie perfectly flat in that. But that's just for overflow/because I like the way it looks, not a practical way to keep a collection really.
