Hi:
I am a new member of this forum and looking for some help. I collected US mint stamps as a kid but am now retired and want to complete my collection. My stamps were maintained in an old Minkus US album. I have since acquired a Schaubek hingeless album, volume III, and used it to transfer stamps and fill the album from 1977 through 1992. I am now looking to purchase a used, empty Volume II (1935-1976) Schaubek hingeless album. I was also considering a Mystic American Heirloom Hingeless Heirloom Album (new or used) but Volume II of that album only goes from 1935 to 1966 and that would leave me with a 10 year gap.

I'm looking for comments on the merits of Schaubek vs. Mystic, thoughts on possible alternatives and also wondering whether anyone has a used Schaubek Volume II that they would like to sell.
Thanks, sderms

Hi sderms,
Welcome to the forum.
I have a lighthouse hinge-less album that covers US 1847 to 1966, and Airmail from C1 to 1963.
It was part of a collection that I bought (as a dealer, I don't use these albums, the stamps go into stock books).
It's actually in virtually brand new condition with the padded green binder.
The "down side" is, I'm based in Japan, and the shipping cost will be around $35. But if you're happy I would be ok to sell you the album with the shipping for say a total of $70USD? ($35 shipping, $35 for the album).
Email me here if interested.

Peter:
Thanks for your message and welcome. I have tried ebay. Don't know the other site you mentioned. What is it?

Thanks for your response. While your album provides coverage for the early years, which I will eventually need, it doesn't solve my 1966-76 coverage issue. I'll keep you in mind when I reach 50 posts.

sderms,

Apart from ebay, you might also want to try HipStamp or Delcampe.

I know you asked about Schaubeck versus Mystic, but FYI, I have been very satisfied with my Davo hingeless albums. I was able to acquire them used and clean from various retailers. There are seven volumes in the set, but just the first three will get you up to 1980.
