So? At the very most, this heap of very common and very cheap stamps is worth a dime. |

Quote: So? At the very most, this heap of very common and very cheap stamps is worth a dime. With all due respect, it is random derogatory comments like this that not only pretty much knock all of the enthusiasm out of not only a stamp collectors' budding interest level in this hobby, but also their interest in further participation in this board. Whether their modest collection as shown here is filled with unique rarities or just common stamps, it really wouldn't hurt all that much to be just a tad more supportive, maybe? What would that cost? Jim |

@BobMill...? Please present to me where I've asked or mentioned anything about "values" in this post? That was just a handful(literally) from the top of my box. I'm not worried about any values if I were I wouldn't be spending MY cash on something that could POSSIBLY reimburse me down the road! I'm living my best life right now! Money definitely isn't an issue..I don't post all of my items online for certain reasons! I spend 50% of my down time sketching and painting so that's honestly a huge reason I've grown to love stamp collecting. The art and fine details are what I go for! While at the same time learning more and more about the hobby at my own pace. Sorry for my rant but you've definitely misunderstood my point of the post! Cheers!! |

Thanks to everyone else! I'm definitely gonna be busy with these! I honestly am thankful for a buddy of mine. He gets a new shipment every Saturday morning and comes straight to me first!! Gotta love it! What's even better, he hates the stamp/coin footwork required. So there's never any cherry picking beforehand |

Good for you gsw. I get a lot of enjoyment out of the 'common' stuff. I think a lot of people miss the point of this hobby. My 7 year old daughter and I spent an hour sorting last night. Money cant buy that. Enjoy!! |

Seems to me $20 put to good use, looks like a fun WW mixture. I too enjoy poking around these, I always learn something new and my time is well spent. |

I wouldn't be a stamp collector if it weren't for common stamps! Ninety-five percent of the stamps in my albums are common.

Exactly as Don states, the number of $20+ valued stamps in my collection is far outweighed by the sub $1 ones. Don't mind the nattering nabob of negativity, as a certain VP once said. |

You can barely get dinner & a beer for $20. Looks like you will enjoy these for much longer than a meal & beer, have fun! |

Hi Gswarriorz510 Take no notice of the negative and un-necessary comment. Enjoy the $20 worth, as said up-thread you can't buy much in the way of entertainment for that anywhere else so I'm sure it will end up being great value, even if there are no mega-value stamps in there! Regards DavidR |

I would like to add for any lurkers and/or new collectors out there, while it is generally true that the majority of stamp collectors are cranky old men shouting at kids to stay of their lawn and complaining that their mail is late that day, not all of us are afflicted with terminal curmudgeonry.
If you enjoy the stamps, their variety, their aesthetics, and their history, that's all that matters, naysayers be damned. We all start somewhere, and for most of us it was buying packets, beginner albums, mixtures, you name it.
There's plenty of fun to be had by all, regardless of what or how we collect. |
