I checked for a watermark and didnt seem to be one present, would this be "" Scott 248 TypeIII"" and been one of the outer stamps on a sheet with the red line? thanks for your help :)
If you'll back to your other 2c Washington question, go to the top link Don gave you to the "Triangles" and re read which type goes with what number. Sc 248 has a type I triangle.
These stamps were printed in sheets of 400, and divided into panes one 100, the line were in the center of the sheet.
