Up to now there have been two types of imprint types for J91 (3 cent).

Type 1 - narrow space between 3 and CENTS.
Type 2 - wide space between 3 and CENTS.

J91 plate 26289 Lower Right - type I on Left and Type II on right

J91 plate 26289 Lower Right - type I on Left and Type II on right

While doing research on my postage dues I happened to notice a third imprint type on J91. Look at the lower right stamp (position 100) on each plate block above and below and you will notice that the 3 and CENTS are even further apart than the the other two types. This is consistent for every plate number used on J91 plate lower right plate block I have (which is quite a number ) Apparently either the same rubber plate was used for the 3 cent denomination for its entire run from 1959 to 1985 (November 1985 was the last printing of postage dues) or the same mistake was made each time a new rubber plate was made. Which do you think is the more probable? Also, plates 26291 and 26292 were not used on J91 and all plate 37876 and 37877 are dull gum.

Type III - much wider space between 3 and CENTS.

Thanks!!! It might be easier just to find a used lower right J91 sheet.

Unfortunately it's not mentioned in the current Durlands. Oh well it felt good while it lasted.

I posted these two plate blocks on this forum about 4 years ago.

These two block/plate numbers have the same amount of space in that position.

I must be misunderstanding the new 'Type III' discovery here, when I measure one of your images I am also getting the exact same amount of space as shown here

The difference is that space between the 3 and CENTS is different from the other 3 stamps (which are type II) in the plate block and the type I in the
plate blocks with plate numbers 26289 and 26290. All the ones in position 100 are exactly the same, but different from the other 99
stamps in the sheet.

You sure it's just J 91? I have a J92 lower right plate block 34283, and as beat I can tell with my digital micrometer, the lower right stamp is approx .25 mm wider than the others, though the difference in size is not as dramatic as those pictured above, the J92 is he only lower right plate block I have that looks a little different.

No, it's not just J91, but in most of the other denominations too. Currently the only one that don't are the 1/2,
2, 11, 13, 17, and 5 dollar. When I found the 4 cent dull in March 2016 (https://goscf.com/t/48849) the '4' was
in the different location over 'CENTS' than the shiny gums.

The dull gum is on the right and base of the '4' begins above where the 'E' ends and ends above the middle of the 'T'. On the shiny gun on the right the base of the '4' begins above the center of the 'E' and ends above where the 'T' begins.
