Hi all,
Eunice has just added these letters to our site and I find them fascinating. (Eunice is the Postal History expert in this house)
She first started researching these two letters 20 years ago, doesn't time fly when you're having fun!
The letters are illustrated and fully transcribed and there are additional postcards and an aerial photo.
The language is not what we would expect from a 'Military Gent'
"Why should my lovely Baby suppose I don't love her as much as ever, be sure never was Man more constant or more warm in his attachment."
"My Baby in her letter says I am very vain & conceited, I should be glad to know what has drawn this animadversion from her,"
The notes after the letters illustrate how times have changed and how much information is now available on line.
I hope others enjoy reading these as much as I did.

There are 200 other letters, from 1660 onwards, on the site for anyone interested in browsing history through the written word.
