As I previously mentioned, mail from Nagappattinam to Singapura via Pinang was carried by British India Steam Navigation Company from 1903 to 1911.

So, mail from Pinang to Singapura was sent via Melaka Strait.

Typically, mail steamers plying between Pinang and Singapura took 2 days and sometimes 1 day.

I made an error about the date of arrival of the 1905 Karaikkudi to Singapura cover, which arrived at Singapura on 12.16.1905. and the next day being Sunday when Singapura GPO was closed, the cover was delivered on 12.18.1905. Monday.

Bobby, there was an active Pinang to Singapura Marine Sorting Service on board of contract mail steamers from May 1879 to April 25,1915, which started following Article 24 of the Postal Contract dt. February 7,1879.

Sorters were allotted different Pinang to Singapura Marine Sorter datestamps.
