Here is a nice pair of scratches on R137 positions 56 and 73. This scratch continues up into position 39. I have this plate almost 50% complete. Anyone with R137 or R 107 multiples they wish to share or sell I would appreciate them.

Very nice! I've not seen these before. I'll need to start checking my second and third issue 5-centers.

Interesting.
Had I seen these on my stamps, I would have presumed a "ductor blade" EFO.
How does one establish these are scratches please?
They repeat over many issues?
Thanks for any info.

They are constant varieties on certain states of plates, meaning they will always show up in that plate position on that state of the plate.

Right. Understood. Thanks very much.

Intrigues me, how that would have occurred, perhaps something dragged across the printing plate in storage perhaps.

Something fell, or or an engraver slipped and they didn't bother to repair it. They were tax stamps after all, the assumption was that only lawyers and accountants would see them anyway.
