In 1879 it was reported that a set of 6 stamps had been issued for Straits Settlement Torres, but this was not one of them. That's why I'm asking if this is a forgery. Thank you for your help.

Nice looking stamp, but probably a forgery. Your perforations look different from the original stamp as well. |

Quote: I will be contacting the seller for a refund. If you are brave enough to disclose how much you paid, I may be interested to buy it off you, if reasonable. Phantom Stamps. |

Cul_lector, I would not return the stamp to the dealer immediately before checking with a philatelic society. I am no expert for this issue and not 100% sure if this value was ever printed erroneously. |

The perfs are the same to me.
2nd stamp is clearly a single line perf being the pointed & blunt corner perfs.
Looks to be a very good forgery if it is one! |

A stamp with an erroneous colour could be discovered only years down the road as with the treskilling yellow and the KGV Prussian blue jubilee stamp, for an error of denomination however, it is very unlikely to be undocumented. I would go to an Australian philatelic society with this stamp to verify at the first instance. |

With just a little bit of reading about this issue & related issues the printings are all over the place with no real documented beginning or end to the printing of these stamps.
They would be a prime target for a forgery or a extra random issue by the printer. |

Rod, I paid C15.21 for this stamp. I appreciate the offer, but I'm going to keep it. Thanks, guys, for all your comments. |

Cul_lector, would appreciate it if you can come back to tell us more about the stamp after you have checked on it. |

I sent an email to the Australia Philatelic Society (the President) and I received a copy of the email from him and nothing else. There was nothing said about the photo of the stamp I sent him. What a waste of time. |
