How do you guys store and display your collections? I dont want to use hinges or glue stamps to a book but the stamp albums with glassine sheets look expensive. please provide different ways to store and display in an affordable way.

Have a look at Lighthouse Vario pages. Stock books of the type that you mention can be quite reasonable secondhand. |

Black paged stockbooks aren't as expensive as they first seem. With clear pockets they show up your stamps very nicely.
Compare prices of say a 64 page stockbook with 64 vario pages + a binder and slipcase. Lighthouse are an excellent brand but don't buy second hand stockbooks. You never know what's been in there and how they've been looked after. |

Thanks Bobby.I see what you are saying. I will definitely check it out.But I also kind of like the flexibility in buying sheets to move around or even exhibit when needed by taking out of binders. Maybe I will put the block sheets in binder and put singles in stock book.. |

A good quality, 64-side stock-book will be around half the price of an empty Lighthouse Grande binder, at least in tne UK. Having said that, stock-books and pages create presntational problems unless you have a long run of similarly sized stamps - eg nineteenth century issues. |

i have used stock-books for my working collections for years without problems. I also use page protectors in three ring binders for documents and related items. this for me at least has proven to work well. |

Thanks @Geoffha. What about less expensive binders and just buy normal glassine sheets? How do you store and exhibit? |

i would defer to more knowledgeable people about how to store mint sheets and stamps and what materials to use. i do not use page protectors for stamps as the ones I have are common commercially made polyethylene. they are three hole punched and hold an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper or document. I use mounts or photo corners to put items on pages and then just slip them in the holders and into three ring binders. I will often slip trade cards, postal cards or advertising documents into them.as almost all of what I collect is used and without gum. |

I have provided all my stockbooks with tight fitting slip cases because I have twice dropped my big stockbooks and spilt hundreds of stamps out of them. Because good used stock books are cheap I will be getting rid of my two biggest stock books because the bigger the book the longer it takes to put all the stamps back. I'm also going to try and put less in each stockbook as I think overloaded stock books spill more easily. I get the feeling that used stock books with contents are almost the same price as empty used stock books? |
