unfortunately today you spend more on paper/print than stamps, so at the end you got a very impressive $40-$80 stamp album contain thousands stamps worth no more than $7-$10.

for me I pick a very cheap paper (cardstock 150g) 2-3 cents each sheet and using my amazing Epson L355, 37k+ printed pages, very cheap you refill cost $20-$25 each 1k-5k

not a beauty like laser, anyway are able to produce this

That is a beautiful page novato. What software do you use to create your pages? I especially love the border design. I may have to end up with two printers, a mono laser for normal document printing and a color inkjet for album pages and other "fancy" stuff.

apastuszak, a comparison would be helpful. Do the Epson inkjet printers use dye or pigment based inks? I guess most inkjet printers are really designed for printing on coated papers which minimize ink absorption and thus feathering.

Epson did make a line of printers that used pigment based inks. Not sure what the new Ecotank printers use.

According to Consumer Reports, the black ink is pigment based and the other colors and dye based.

Pigment based inks, which last longer, are typically sold as specialty items by some printer manufacturers. They are always more costly than water based inks.

I printed some pages and did some scans.

Here is what I did:

I used Staples brand 67 lb ivory cover stock:

https://www.staples.com/Staples-Cov...oduct_490885

I printed out my Mystic Heirloom Page 518 Hack from here:

http://stamphacks.com/wp/?p=1379

I did 3 scans at 1200 DPI using Vuescan software on my Epson Ecotank 2750 scanner. They are:

The Brother HL-3170CDW at it's max resolution of 2400 DPI

The Brother HL-3170CDW at it's normal resolution of 600 DPI

The Epson Ecotank 2750 at it's max resolution on normal paper of 600 DPI

The files are each around 9 MB. I'm not horribly happy with the scans. I think the pages look better in person than they do when scanned, but I will post them anyway.

I put them on my Google Drive here:

Thank you apastuszak! Interesting results. I think your Brother HL-3170CDW does a better job than my Brother HL-5470DW. I may need to get a new driver and play around with it some. Brother technical support keeps saying that none of their printers will work with card stock but the manual says it should work with 163 gsm. My 67lb card stock is supposedly 145 gsm which should be within spec. I should also probably try feeding the paper one page at a time.

I recommend pulling out all the drums and cleaning them with 91% alcohol. If that doesn't help, you can try a new black cartridge and see if that helps.
