Somewhere on this site I posted images of all my color varieties up thru the 25c value, but I can't remember what topic it was under.

Whoa. There are booklet pane prexies? How did I not know this? And why does my album not show spaces for these?

Unlike the coils, Scott doesn't list the booklet Prexies as major varieties. The 1c booklet pane is #804b, the 2c booklet pane is #806b, and the 3c booklet pane is #807a.

eyeonwall ... thanks for showing your prexie color varieties. But your scan leaves me with two questions. My 2018 Scott catalogue shows 2 colors for the 3-cent (light violet & violet) and shows only 1 for the 21-cent (dull blue). Since your original post was in 2017, I would assume that my Scott has most of the colors. First, was one of the 3-cent colors added after your post? Second, judging by your scan there are definitely two shades of the 21-cent. Did you decide to collect this even though it is not listed in Scott? Or did one of the shades get left out of my 2018 Scott? Will check the 2019 Scott at our public library on my next visit.

JLLebbert, One should consider the Scott Specialized as only the "Scott Semi-Specialized" as there are lots of uncataloged varieties left to advanced monographs and the literature of the specialist societies. It is particularly obvious in the postal stationery listings.

DaveG - Scott has separate album pages for booklet panes

JL - I got some of the 8c and 11c shades added to the 2015 edition, but the 2nd 3c shade was added later in the 2016 from someone else's input, when it went from deep violet to violet and light violet, so now I have to find the second one. As for the 24c, there is still only one shade listed and it was an oversight on my part to not submit it. I will try to correct that this year.

There is also 832b, on watermarked USIR paper, and 832g which is bright magenta and black. 833 comes in two shades: green & black and yellow green & black.

I am also working on Prexies. I collect plate blocks and I have a few SC# 830's that have varying degrees of the blue color. It appears from the APS certificate Archives, that the 830b is only found with plate numbers 22164, or 22165. Are those the only ones from which the 830b can be found? So I can exclude anything other than these plate numbers from the possible 830b pile? And what about 830a? Are there plate numbers that are more likely to be the 830a than not? Are there any that are absolutely NOT the 830a or b? I cannot find a resource taht givers me the answer. Hopefully someone on this site can help.

I would be very careful buying uncertified copies of the 860b!

Even certified copies from early days , I would not trust.
