Our new e-reader is an all-around better, faster and more elegant experience and we're excited to show you how.

Intuitive Navigation. Jump to a page number if you know it, or quickly scroll through thumbnails of every page. Of course, you can flip the page as easily as ever. An audible page flip recreates that traditional reading experience.
Ever-Present UI. Our upgraded interface is modern and intuitive and works on all device types. Unlike our old reader, the navigation will not disappear on you it's there when you need it. Until you don't. Easily hide thumbnails or go full screen with a click or tap.
Look Closer. Zoom in 100% deeper than ever before, allowing you to inspect our detailed scans of stamps throughout the Scott Catalogue.
And much more! New features that we simply could not offer with our old reader, including:

Frequently Asked Questions How do I access my Scott e-Catalogue purchases? Visit the My Account section of Scottonline.com and click "My Purchases". You can access your catalogs on any device with a web browser including phone, tablet and desktop.
Will I still have access to my old purchases? Of course! All your purchases have been upgraded to the new e-reader as part of our ongoing commitment to provide a convenient, user-friendly experience.
Where are my Annotations? Your annotations have been brought into the new reader, where they are now known as "Notes". You will find them on the same pages as they were previously. An example is below:
Please note: In all cases, notes will be on the page they were originally made, but in some cases, their location within that page may have changed. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Can I still highlight & bookmark? Unfortunately, these features are no longer supported. However, by using the Notes function, you can effectively make a Note that would serve as a bookmark. We apologize for any inconvenience.
What about my old highlights & bookmarks? All existing highlights & bookmarks were brought in as Notes.
I have another question. We're happy to help! Please feel free to contact with a friendly Amos Media Customer Service Representative Mon-Fri 9 am - 5 pm EST by dialing Toll-Free: 1 (800) 572-6885. Or, e-mail us at: cuserv@amosmedia.com.

Just logged in to check it out. You can REALLY zoom in now, using actual pinch and zoom on the iPad. And the fonts stay crisp and clear, so they're not just raster images.
Still doesn't appear to offer offline access. |

They are still very protective.
Once you pay for a ecatalog, do you have access to it forever. |

I bought the 2015 US Section of Volume I and am still able to access it. All the improvements to the catalog, in terms of font rendering and zoom were available in my old 2015 catalog.
TBH I think the lack of an offline catalog is not their doing. It's a product of the solution they chose. It doesn't offer offline access, so they can't either.
Kind of like the old online Linn's. Was based on Mattercast, a company that went out of business. So, they were stuck with what they had. The new digital Linn's is way better. Even lets you download a PDF of each issue. |

The decision to do either a client-side app vs. a server-side app is a foundational one. While I realize that users like having access if the internet is not available, the proper decision for Amos was a server-side app. Amos is showing good vision and apparently understands the significant short-comings of a client-side app. First, downloading large files and installing to every user device is not an efficient solution. But most importantly trying to support thousands of users, their devices, and their installs is incredibly costly. Consider what happens when they release a new version. With server-side, they have one single code base to upgrade. Ten minutes and it is done, everyone is on the same version. Compare this to trying to upgrade a few thousand copies in the field.
Internet penetration in the US is now in excess of 85%; virtually every computing device now has internet access.
Before folks argue for client-side, I completely sympathize. As a user I also want to have full control over the software I run; I have always been a 'roll-your-own' kind of guy. But the IT support costs of client-side vs. server-side app are so overwhelming it has forced me to live with the architecture Don |

The problem we have is that Amos's solution is a client side solution being delivered server side.
If they offered database that was updated with new values monthly, allowed you to catalog your collection, create want lists, and have reporting capabilities, then that would be the proper use of a server side applications.
If all you app does it load a book, allow you turn pages, and pinch and zoom, then you might as well give people a PDF or ePub and move on with your day. Because that's all your book is. |

Quote: Once you pay for a ecatalog, do you have access to it forever. Until they switch platforms. People who purchased catalogues in the original iPad app were left high and dry when Amos abandoned the app. I ultimately was made whole by kicking and screaming and making a royal PITA of myself, but who knows how many customers lost access to their paid content and just gave up without recourse. It still bothers me bigtime on how anti-consumer Amos's mindset is. As far as the new version, it has some advantages, but as I emailed them at about 7am this morning, they screwed the pooch as far as testing it prior to release. All of the table of contents entries are screwed up. In the U.S. Specialized, all of the back of book ToC entries disappeared, and in the other volumes all the individual country ToC entries are gone. You have to guess what page to go to for Air Mail or Revenues, for example, or use search to find it. ToC isn't there any more. I did get an immediate reply thanking me for the report and that they are working on a fix. But this is Software 101... testing before public launch. Their quality assurance is virtually nonexistent. |

You know. I've hit a point now where I don't even need the Scott Catalog half the time. To get a true market value for a stamp, I almost always just search ebay. I can get Scott Catalog numbers and images from Mystic Stamps website, as well as quite a number of other web sites. If Scott gave me access to the entire catalog online and offline, let me catalog my collection, make want lists, does valuation reporting and tell me important things like the stamps actual size in mm as well as recommended mount size, I'd be quite happy to subscribe to a service like that. In version 2, you add an online marketplace, and you have a pretty compelling product. Sadly, we got an online ebook. |
