The CoGH triangles were issued between 1853-1864 and have always been highly sought after.

Lots of forgeries/reproductions abound. But both your stamps look pretty genuine. Great acquisition! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Thanks!

I got them from a very reputable stamp dealer, so all looks good for them being real. And yes, as khj said, they're from between 1853-1864. Just need to figure out which year now.

Yes, if it's from 1853, it definitely beats out my 1854 Pale Brown 1/ swan from Western Australia.

I remember being interested in them because they were the first triangular stamps made... the idea being that even illiterate people would be able to tell the stamp was from another country!

As a side diversion I started a odd shape topical collection. Well the triangles added up fast so I spilt it into another topical of World triangles which is nearing completion.
The Cape of Good Hope triangles are the pardon the pun, Holy Grail of triangles if anyone goes this route. I have not pulled the gun yet but have seen a couple up for auction. But do not want to purchase these unless in person because of the multitude of reprints.
The are some very nice ones luvthecommonwealth.
