Hi

Have this envelope which appears to be business mail to San Francisco. The postal marking is something I can not find in Scott but believe it is an example of metered mail. I am unable to locate similar postal markings online to confirm one way or another if indeed this is metered mail. Any help appreciated.

Yep, that's metered mail. Here are a couple of covers with similar meter indicia:

Thank you. I appreciate your time and effort. This envelope also struck me as odd for the lack of US postmarks. If mailed 3/22/32 in Germany it was received when and where in the US? (That's a hypothetical question) Nothing on the envelope to indicate.

"Drucksache" is "printed matter" (with just 5pf needed to get this to America), so it wouldn't merit being backstamped with a receiver. US internal printed matter/3rd class would not get a receiving cancel normally, either.

Here's a good website with a catalog of worldwide meters: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Inter...tamp_Catalog

Just select Germany from the list.

Thank you all. Explains the lack of US postmarks on the envelope. I was able to find examples on the website Battlestamps. Saved the link to my favorites. Great reference site.
