Please Show Me Squirrels On Stamps!

Alexey's stamp reminds me of a Japanese anim version of the Swan Lake, in which there are two little squirrels helping the prince and princess fighting against the evil bat. I don't know whether there 2 or 1 squirrels in the Pushkin's story#65292; but these two are so lovely that I can even remember their names to be Margret and Hans. :-)

Happen to see this handsome cover with a squirrel station name and a pictorial postmark!

Hi, Idebee. How could I miss such a beautiful stamp with a squirrel!? This is another illustration for Pushkin's fairy tale "The Tale about Tsar Saltan." It is made on a lacquer box from Fedoskino.
But there are no squirrels or bats in the real libretto of "Swan Lake".

Hi, Alexey, thanks! I was a little mistaken. The villains in the Japanese anim are an evil owl and his daughter.

The alphabet stamp is really so cute and always reminds me of Animal Crossing! Hazel is saying hello to Bilka! :-) .

A little background info on the scenery, which is a memorial monument.

In 1940, 11 people were killed in the tsunami caused by the Cape Kamui earthquake in Teshio.

August was in the middle of a hunting season on the coast. There were more than a dozen guardhouses in the dunes, where fishermen were sleeping. The tsunami of the earthquake washed away the barracks in a blink of eyes. It was a disaster that it was late at night, and a lot of victims came out. The victims had many children. In August, the school became summer vacation, and the children who were usually staying in the city area also went to stay at father's place and suffered damage.

This memorial monument was erected on the 33rd anniversary of August 1972. Fumiyo Asano miraculously saved from the tsunami and carved his poem on a stone monument.

From the beginning of May to the middle of May, about 3,000 Hokkaido Mountain Sakura bloom. In the forest park where you can touch the nature of Otaru throughout the four seasons, there are many wild birds, and it is not uncommon to encounter the natural monument of the bear gera (black woodpecker). There is an information center called "Forest's Nature Museum" in the park.

Mint-kun & Pepper-chan are in the center, they are mascot couple in charge of PR activities of Kitami City, which boasted 70% of the world's peppermint share. The reason why they have a slightly round shape is that Kitami's food is delicious. :-)
