The field post mail was sent by a soldier with the German occupiers in Belgium.
There are feldpost letters and cards from German soldiers all across Europe with postal markings of those countries/locations. They sometimes carry feldpost etiquittes, but usually they just have a 'feldpost'' handwritten on them. It is unusual for one to carry stamps, but they are unnecessary and just for decoration.
The violet stamp indicates that this was sent from the registration office. This may indicate that the sender was a federal government official rather than a military official. Any German doing business in the occupied territory was most likely required to register and keep records with the government agency. That is my guess.
It is amazing what you can learn from the people on this board. I would have just thought it was a simple cover from Bayern. I have a lot to learn. Robert
