I purchased a set of Robin Harris's Adminware's Intermediate Machin pages. I ended up with these since I made a donation but decided I might as well get something for it too.

The level in the Intermediate is about the level I would want to go. In order to get a list of all spaces so now I want to create a listing. I was thinking assigning a number for each space so I can cross reference it to a spreadsheet.

It could be PDF page, row, number in row. Anyone done something similar?

I am curious what others have done for album space identification? The question can apply to most any type album especially when all are arranged on a grid.

I do something similar for my Canada collection in Lighthouse albums.

Stamps are listed with Scott # as they appear on the page - top to bottom, left to right.
I colour-code each stamp # in the last column as you can see - black for have MNH, green have MH, brown for have used, red for don't have, etc.

A useful supplement to my inventory in a software program, and very handy when looking online. You could easily tweak for your purposes.

angore,

I had started doing something similar with my two volume Harris Statesman so that I would have an easy to use checklist as I began filling in the spaces. I only got part of the way done before realizing I was going to need a newer set of catalogs since mine didn't list some of the newer stamps.

My inspiration was the Big Blue 1840-1940 blog. Something about the idea of working through an album page by page while also working through the catalog was very appealing. I've even been tempted to do it for a couple older albums I purchased for the stamps in them.

As I now turn more toward using the Steiner pages, I'll likely do the same at least for the pages I print.
