Today I received a "Get 10% Bucks In-App" bonus email that expires 5/8. I activated it. Two days ago, I bought a couple of stamp items (through offers). I hadn't paid for them yet, as I was away for the weekend. Today, I went to pay for them, and the checkout screen indicated I would be earning the 10% ebay bucks, on the items I bought on Sat. I completed my purchase. Now I only see 1% ebay rewards. I believe I am entitled to the 10%. In my mind, a purchase date, is the payment date. A sale is not a sale until payment. The confirm payment page is the terms of the sale and that page indicated I would be received 10% in ebay bucks. I'm calling ebay to work this out, but what are your thoughts on this? Am I off base?

You can run it up the flag pole and see if it flies, but I'm not sure it will.
My understanding, as I received the same offer today, is that it only applies to purchases made AND paid for during the promotional period.
I'd be interested to learn what you find out. |

I agree with Stampman. Even though you paid for the items today, you "bought" them on Saturday. I doubt you'll get anywhere with ebay. Per the terms: The Promotion starts at 5:00AM PT on May 6, 2019 and ends at 11:59PM PT on May 8, 2019 (the #8220;Promotion Period#8221;). The Promotion applies to any qualifying items purchased during the Promotion Period that meet the minimum purchase requirement. |

You can look at it both ways. The contract is established when you agree to buy. On the other hand, it's fulfilled when you transfer the funds. It boils down to definitions - I don't think either view is right or wrong, it just depends how ebay define the point of purchase. |

You are out of luck, 1typesetter quoted the T&Cs (Terms and Conditions) that you agreed to when you accepted the promotion. Don |

HipStamp has a similar thing going that confounded me too. If you spend a certain amount per day (the verbiage used is "purchase $X+ to unlock") you get extra chances at the monthly Penny Black giveaway. So I won an auction for an amount that made me eligible for this bonus. After I paid for the lot the next day I went to the relevant page to unlock my extra entry, which lo and behold was unavailable. Turns out this offer only applies on the day you win, not the day you pay. A peculiar understanding of the term "purchase," IMO. |

Purchasing is buying for a sum of money. The purchase is not consummated unless you pay. Simple. |

If you buy a house with a 25-year mortgage, you buy it and move in immediately - but you haven't paid for it for another 25 years. You buy it when the contract is agreed with the lender.
Edit: Actually, ignore what I said. It just confuses the issue! |

The house IS paid for. You now have an agreement with the bank, not the seller. |

I've seen this happen before. ebay considers the date when the offer was accepted as the date of purchase. |

Surprisingly, they haven't called me back. Will follow up tomorrow. My belief, is that theoretically I could cancel the orders and rebuy them, though that might offend the seller... That's why I think it's on ebay to make it right, as a courtesy, instead of a very confusing transactional reversal. I paid with 3 methods of payment (gc, cc, and overage PayPal), on negotiated offers. Not sure if sellers incur any fees on cancels. |

So after initial follow-up, and an escalated rep, they agreed with me, that I should in this particular case be entitled to the 10% offer, due to the award being shown on my final checkout screen. I indicated to her, I could have easily cancelled the order if it displayed 1% at that time and re-purchased the items to obtain the offer under the terms. ebay has escalated and after approval will be awarding me the dollars within 24-48hrs. As a follow up, I asked what would happen if I bought the item, today and paid for it after the promo period. She said the same thing would happen. The promo offer period which is simply listed as start-end dates, includes not only committing to buy, but also the payment. This detail is not in the terms nor to be assumed. It's a grey area. ebay mentioned they will be forwarding my request to their promotional marketing team to firm up the language regarding dates of promotional usage to include both agreeing to buy and subsequent payment. |

Just a follow-up - ebay provided me with the ebay bucks as noted on checkout. In the future I'd recommend to everyone taking screenshots of any screens or printing to PDF the confirmation pages when ordering online. Life is like a box of chocolates... |
