I have inherited a collection of UN plate blocks (New York) start with 1980. Is their any catalogue, reference, that I can get an idea of their value? Thanks for any help.

Sorry to say, but UN stamps sell for only a small fraction of face value (often 25% or less) mint, and hardly anything used. Even plate/imprint blocks sell for very little.

The exceptions are the 10th anniversary souvenir sheet (both types retail around $20), a few errors (imperfs and color errors, like the Prussian blue from the first airmail set), and the UN administration of Kosovo (which were never sold to the philatelic market). If you have any of those, they are worth some money.

EDIT to add: also the Flags issues, in full sheets, often still sell at a premium to face value. Your Flags blocks might be worth face or a little more if you can find a UN collector that needs them.

Thank you for the above information, but I am not so much interested in the value as in properly identifying the UN plate blocks. That is why I was asking for a reference I can use. Thank you.

You can also find these stamps on www.stampworld.com , but they do not list plate blocks.

You do state "value" in your opening comment. Thanks for clarifying. Scott catalogue has the reference/catalogue numbers and value.

The Scott Specialized U.S. catalogue lists United Nations stamps, and includes values for inscription blocks of 4.
