I'm working my way through my Great Aunt's stamp collection and haven't been able to identify this one. Can anyone help me?

RYUKYU ISLANDS, Yaeyama District, 1948, 4s Dark Green

Hi Both,

Many thanks for your help. It turns out to be Japan first issued in 1937 and used until 1944. No wonder I couldn't find it - I was looking in China!

Cat Lady, the stamp was used quite a bit as an occupation stamp - all over SE Asia. When you see the stylized chrysantemum in the stamp you know it is Japan.
