Steiner Album Pages Question

Hello everyone,

I am trying to make some album pages for my Germany hyper inflation issues (1921-1923). I was looking for some free album pages specific to these issues, but couldn't find any on the web. I also don't want to take the time to create each page on my own - too labor intensive for my life at the moment.

I do have the Steiner CD, so have the pages that cover these issues. The trouble, is that some of the pages that contain the hyper inflation issues contain stamps that do not fit this theme, either coming before of after. The question: Is there a way to print part of a page - that is to print the page with the boxes and headings I want, and somehow leave off the boxes and headings that do not fit.

I am not very savvy with computer software, and don't know how to modify a pdf in this way. Do you all have any suggestions for me on how I can accomplish this?

Thank you for the link. These Germany pages also include inflation and non-inflation issues on the same page, so I would have the same question about these.

I did find some nifty Europa pages here. Lots of neat stuff.

You can edit PDF pages but it typically requires you to do a 'Save as' and use another application to edit them. If you are unable, you can email me the PDF files you want changed, instructions of what you want changed, and I will do it for you.

I use LibreOffice Draw to edit and then modify but Don doing it is likely faster than learning new software.

If you don't mind blank space you can always print them as they are then cover (mask) the areas that you do not want with blank paper (rubber cement is good to hold the mask on) and print those.

Yes, there are ways both digitally and mechanically (or is it "analog"?). Digitally requires many steps saving files from Steiner's CD, converting them to whatever format, then editing them, and so on. One method some people claim to have used is to save his files to PowerPoint and then edit them. I tried multiple times with no luck. And there must be various other ways, as well.

So I do it the old-fashioned way - I cover up stamps I don't want to collect, then photocopy the page onto similar paper. It only requires cutting out paper very neatly to fit the area I want to blank out. And it must be paper of a similar shade so its edges don't show up. On the photocopy (xerox) machine, you can also adjust the sharpness of the print you're producing to compensate for visible edge lines and so on. If your blanking paper is off the mark, just readjust and make another copy. You can even print onto larger size paper for other albums (besides 8.5 x 11") if you have all-blank paper in that size. At a print store like Fedex since your home printer may not accommodate larger paper.

I do this all the time, and the result is good clear copies of Steiner's pages without the offending boxes that I don't need. They look like they were made that way.

If you use LibreOffice, it will open a PDF (if not locked) and do the conversion as it opens the file without the separate conversion step.
