Regum and no gum are the same thing. Obviously, OG will have much more value than no gum, but pricing may depend on lh vs heavy hinging. PSE just uses ph in SMQ, for previously hinged. But often they will differentiate hinging with 'ph' meaning lightly hinged or just 'h' for noticeable hinge mark or paper remnant.

Craigk, wouldn't regum be evidence of a stamp being tampered and hence carrying a lower value than an untampered unused stamp? I am just curious coz I never asked for an expert opinion on this issue.

Just soak the gum off or leave on. No difference unless the regum is hiding a flaw/thin but you will have to dip regardless.

Wert, thanks for the link. The prices do vary a lot depending on condition. One in superb condition is going beyond cv at $2000!

Craigk, $500 is relatively cheap for the set. The lack of gum offers a huge discount. For those not bothered about the back of stamps, it makes sense to buy ungummed stamps.

Note that the auction description states "a couple tiny faults" for the set that sold for $500 - they are not just no gum they also have faults. Also, you need to add the 18% buyer's premium (20% less 2% prompt payment discount) to the hammer price. so $590 if you pay within 15 days.

You will pay on average $900 plus commission for a VF MNH set on SAN. Roughly 50 to 60 percent of cv.

Rogdcam, $900 for a fine set sounds about right. I wonder what is so special about the $2000 zep sold by siegel.

The grade. The SMQ for that stamp is $1750. I do not really get the prices people pay for the grade but we all know how it goes.

There appears to be a blemish on the first 'P'of the zeppelin.

The copy sold by regency looks better than the one sold by siegel and the price difference is $1600! How do you tell apart an "extremely fine" and a "very fine" to warrant such a huge price difference?

Here is a MNH set that I picked up for $900 at auction last year.
