Would be grateful for opinions as to fair market price.

It looks like a good beginners collection with a lot of spaces that would be fun to fill in. Probably not much of monetary value (although I did not look at all 800 pages) but many hours of pleasure value to a new collector.

There may be a few halfway decent Austria and Argentina but after about 50 images I didn't see much else. Seems like the pages may be worth more than the stamps.

The good news is that they are all different .

The bad news is it is mostly common stamps ,very few complete sets , nothing that I seen had much catalog . So if you were looking for a price I would say 2 cents per stamp and maybe can be put into packets and sold on ebay for 4 cents per stamp but that is a lot of work and most buyers of this type of lot would just pass on the whole thing.A beginner collection .

Perversely, Michael, it might do better if you were to put it on ebay as a worldwide collection, but with just the dozen pictures, including the GB page and other more arresting leaves. This then gives the prospect of treasure. Showing everything may diminish the price.

Something not mentioned yet is condition, which is the biggest factor in valuing a collection. As an example, I saw a 5 shilling King George V "seahorse" stamp from Great Britain, with a lighter cancel, that sadly has part of a corner missing. What could have been a desirable stamp actually is of no value because of the damage.

I did see a 6 pence purple triangle stamp from Cape of Good Hope with nice margins, and also Canada Scott #158, the 50 cents Bluenose yacht stamp. These could have some value, but again condition rules. Otherwise, from the pages I looked at, it is a nice beginner collection.

Looks like a Minkus album by the page titles and the way the spaces are laid out. I'm not sure if it's a New Worldwide or a Comprehensive. By the number of pages I might think it's the latter.

I'd be tempted to bid if I saw one like this on ebay. I wouldn't chase it to the amounts some beginner collections seem to fetch. It would fill a number of holes in my collection.

Just my two cents.

Dale

The Cape stamp looks like a forgery , every stamp auction buyer knows that if you purchase a massive collection or large bulk lot and average the price at 2 cents per stamp there are always a few better and sometimes a few pages of better stamps that catalog into a few dollars apiece . It just goes with the stuff your buying .
