Are there alot of different versions of this stamp? I think I read maybe 250 types. Is this the U385? How do I tell them apart? I know it is the lines on the left and right sides of the 'two cent' at the bottom. Some of mine have 3 short lines on each side or 2 and 1/2 lines on each side, or no lines on one side. Is there any other way to tell them apart? Are any of this kind valuable?

These "stamps" are called 'cut squares' and you may get better answers if you ask to post this in the "back of the book" section of this forum. Just use the "send note to staff" button on each post
"Are there a lot of different versions of this stamp? I think I read maybe 250 types."
Somewhere in that range. The catalog lists die varieties up to 143, but there are several with sub-letter additional varieties, so its more than 143.
"Is this the U385?"
No. At least the first and last are U395. The middle three fuzzy ones I will wait for a better set of scans.

From the catalog: "SHADE LINES OF THE LOWER RIBBON These shade lines usually are the most unreliable of all evidence because they commonly are printed very poorly. . ."

Get hold of the specialized catalog mentioned above (search for "1904 Recuts"; "Fotios Drakos"; past editions of the UPSS Stamped Envelope catalog)). Should be relatively cheap.
"Are any of this kind valuable?"
I don't know what is meant by "valuable". Check the price list which is available on upss.org. The catalog value can get into the $100's.
These can be great fun to collect. Highly recommended.
