I have scanned these two stamps on covers by themselves and together side by side. To me, the Philadelphia cancelled stamp looks more orange than the certified 10A stamp. They look like they are both Type II. Any help in identifying will be greatly appreciated.

The Boston one pretty clearly appears to be a 10A, while the Philadelphia one appears to be an 11A.

I'm saying that based on apparent color and impression alone without plating.

On an off-topic tangent, I miss Art and Bill.

The Weiss cert is correct. I have handled that cover on two separate occasions for two different owners over the years. The last time being when I sold it to the rlm.

The Philly cover is franked with an 11A and is just about guaranteed to be an 1852 usage.

So that does make this a Type II.

txstamp, thank you for your post.

Don, I have read many threads involving Mr. Weiss. They are always speaking with respect for him, not only for his knowledge but for the good hearted person that he was. I have noticed quite a number of projects that you and he worked on together!

Winston, when I posted this question I noticed after, that you were not on SCF at that time. I am glad you came back when you did. I do very much respect your knowledge. I did enjoy and do miss your ebay auctions.

Has stampcrow been around? I know he always loved the three cent stamps!
