Hey,

Going through these albums slowly, and this caught my eye. Gramps claims its a 1909 dated one, however I have my doubts. Its not in tip top condition, but it does appear to be unused. I'd love to know what year its from. I have quite a few more types of 'postage due' types, but they're used.

I can take a more detailed photo, or if there are some identifiers people know of to determine it, please let me know. This album contains genuine (but common) types from as far back as 1865, but there are some noted re-prints (although Grandpa made note of them)

Not anywhere near my area of expertise but if the watermark is Crown over A it's SG D65 (1910) or SG D81 (1917).

Just checked the watermark. Its hard to make out, I've posted a photo. The A looks like its sitting to the side of the crowns, one below and above to the right? Am I seeing this correctly or am I out of my depth.

With that watermark, it's SG D94, first issued in 1922. 1909 was the first year of issue for the design in these colours.

You do need to buy a catalogue (older used ones are cheaper) or consult your local library for one. The Australasian catalog is a simplified colour catalogue that should be useful for identification of stamps in that area.

If like US libraries, the latest copy would be in the reference section with any older ones kept available for checking out.
