I'm trying to found out where the attached stamps are from. The purple overprint says 17 MAR 96. I asked various collectors from the US to Russia but no definite answer yet, does somebody have any idea?

Hmm, some kind of zemstvo, maybe? (Zemstvos were rural delivery local issues from imperial Russia, there are thousands of varieties.)

The designs (arabesques) look a little like "Tannu Touva" to me.
(Purely a wild guess)

There's no "R" in the cyrillic alphabet.

Try focussing on that sun or star device under the horse. I bet that that can ID the source.

It's a seal to somewhere! I've tried running possibilities on the Internet and come up empty!
It's not Russian, No 'R' on stamps as far as I can see! But the A & T II A would appears to be Latin based.

What ever happens, these our cool and interesting stamps!

Thxs. As the red cancelation is in Latin and not Cyrillic it is highly unlikely to be Russian. Anxious for further feedback from the members.

Good question. I hadn't checked yet, but just looked at it and put it in the watermark detector, but as far as I can see there is none
