Hello:
New to stamps (at least in the last 50 years)having moved over from coins. My interest is in Canadian coins and stamps only.
If you were to spend $2k or less on one stamp, block of stamps, FDC, or whatever, what would you make the centre piece of your Canadian stamp collection?
At the moment, I'm thinking $2, $3, and 4$ Victoria jubilees. That could change...

Seaway invert is $12,500.00.
I'll take a used 158iii used VF Bluenose "man on the mast" at $2,000.00 |

Depends on whether you're interested in owning an error (e.g. Seaway invert), variety (e.g. man in the mast), or the best copy of a classic stamp you can find for that money. Personally, I'd probably go for the nicest $ value Jubilee I could get for $2K.
Although in reality I'd buy a whole lot of nice, less expensive stamps if I had $2K burning a hole in my pocket :)! |

I would get any of the used dollar jubilees in xf gem condition with legible town cancels.
If I could use the $2k to buy a wider swath of stamps I would use it to fill in the holes and upgrade with xf used town cancel gems up through the war issues.
The challenge would be finding the material. |

I would go for a nice copy of the $3. The bistre (?) color is stunning. The $1 color is great too. Not a fan of purple ($2/$4) but that's just me. |

Gilles, have to agree with your choice of the imperf proof of 12p black. Do not believe there is any other way to obtain anything else for that space. Mike |

Thanks!
Lots of good ideas there. A couple I've never even heard of before.
I realize all of the Jubilees I mentioned can be had for $2k or less total, subject to condition.
Right now I'd lean towards one of the first ever like the 3p beaver.
Otherwise, I'm pretty much aiming for the best I can find of everything post Victoria through WW2.
There are some cool options like proof prints - I have some of those.
Thanks for the thoughts! Keep them coming. |

This 3d on Laid Paper sold for around $2000 CDN. I like the 10d covers, too. I only have this front and it was less than $1000. |
