Hello
I love all the information that's on this site. I started collecting back in the 70,s and stopped. Now im getting back into stamps but im a little rusty.

I went and bought 2 gauges a metal uni safe perforation gauge and a sonic imagery labs precision u.s specialty gauge. I've read a lot on here and been to stamp smarter love the info.

Question is am I measuring these stamps right, and if its a rotary. From what I've read if it has any color on the back its a no, then you read other topics and sometimes its ok. I've read some don't like the gauges, then some just use stamps. I've read about the set off. If its not a rotary why is my gauge saying it is.

Thanks Steve

Your gauge says it's a perf 11 and the back says it's a flat plate printing. So it can only be a 498.

Indeed the setoff of a used stamp shows a flat printing.
The Multigauge is, as it's also only a kind of ruler, only a measurement, so not precise enough. Better is to compare to a known rotary or flat stamp, made into a template.
