Scott 11 (P.e.i.) - Possible Engraved And Typographed Versions.

The stamp on the LEFT looks printed by typographed....The stamp on the RIGHT looks as though it was an engraved printing....Engraving usually has sharper stamp detail than typographed stamps...As you can see by the close up below.


The 3 stamps below, the 2 on the left are mine and the far right one is borrowed from Archives Canada. Notice the spacing on these stamps on the "P".... Big difference..Though at first there may have been TWO separate printings of this Scott 11...Typo and engraving...Interesting theory.

CONCLUSION
These 2 stamps leave a lot to think about.

This issue was typographed. I suspect if one is engraved printing it might well be a forgery.

Without question, both are typographed.

I checked 3 different forgeries web sits and no indication of any Scott 11 forgeries...Sent an email to Ken Pugh who has spent time on forgeries since 1970..Hope he can give me a reason why one looks like typo and one looks engraved..Forgery wise.

If it turns out to be a forgery, it will be the first one recognized..Keeping fingers crossed.

Use a piece of thin foil (like that in cigarette packs) and gently rub your fingernail across the printed surface. If you get a raised impression transferred from the stamp it is from an engraved plate. I think I know what you'll find.
