Trying To Figure Out The Lingo...

I have a couple of questions on errors...

Would any of these be considered errors the way the print is over in the perforation? IF so, what kind of error? And is an error a good thing or a bad thing?












And ones like this one...is this an error or different type or something else?

They are just poorly centered. If the perforations are shifted more radically, so that the designs of 2 (or more) stamps are showing, then it becomes a "perforation freak" which makes it more collectible to some people.

The red Spanish stamp has plate scratches. Some collectors look for these.

The Italian stamps are Scott 88; 1.25l blue & ultramarine issued in 1926

In Scott, the colors are listed from the frame inward so, the dark frame and portrait is blue while the wreath around the portrait is ultramarine.




I suspect that the intensity of the ultramarine varied during printing - The color is there on all of our examples.

For these stamps to be errors, the ultramarine would have to be completely missing - even under a microscope.

Another possible kind of error would be for a color other than ultramarine being used, but these examples do not seem to be different colors.
