Could I Be So Lucky: Is This A Franklin 1c 596 Perf 11 On A Postcard

It does seem like a Scotts 596 lime green 1c Franklin! It measures 19.0 x 22.5+ mm, has a perforation 11, perforated all sides (which I think means the old rotary waste sheet instead of coil). On a postcard. Does this look right? My main question is regarding checking for old ink spots on the back of a stamp that is already on a postcard - is there a neat way to do that.

No, the postmark is late and the stamp is the wrong color. What do the perforations gauge at?

How exactly is a late postmark relevant to identification here? I often get ebay purchases mailed to me bearing stamps that are older than I am. Okay, those are generally mailed by stamp dealers who are getting rid of stock that they'd have to sell for less than face, but who's to say that someone in 1930 didn't use some stamps that had been forgotten in a book, box, or drawer for several years?

Granted, a later postmark will more likely appear on a later issue, but unless a stamp has been declared invalid, there's nothing preventing it from being used at a late date. So even though the late date suggests that this stamp would probably be a 632, it's really only the 11×10½ perfs that would definitively identify it as such. (And yes, I do believe that it is a 632.)

Is it definitive evidence? No, of course not. Is it likely? No, it is not. So the smart way to bet is to assume that a less likely event did not occur.

I do not know why you question the relevance; my reply was meant to help folks to consider all the information at hand (from a low resolution image).

Of course the perf gauge is a critical missing piece of the puzzle which was why I asked the OP about it.

What I did not want to do was encourage ID by color. This stamp happens to be one which color ID is fairly easy and accurate; but given the pitfalls of color ID with other stamps I lean away from harping on it. I also lean away from simply IDing a stamp. My objective is to teach, not offer free ID service.

Thanks for the responses. I agree that if no restrictions a stamp can be used later. I will recheck the perforation and view the tint under better lighting. Also that was my first post here as a new member, have since found the other categories in which to post. Thanks from Richmond VA.

It is the wrong shade/color and there are only five in the census that do not have a Kansas City precancel. I will bet the Brooklyn Bridge that it is 11 x 10.5. And the Empire State Building. And my cats.
