Hi Tug, and a big to SCF. 4/R55 and 3/L22. The 4 & 3 refers to the printing plate. The R & L refers to the right & left side of the printing plate. The right side of the stamp sheet has 60 stamps so 55 is the stamp position. Usually refers to a stamp variety. The left side has 60 stamps so 22 is the stamp position on the stamp sheet. Hope it has been helpful. John |

Boy is that the truth, A stamp is not just a little piece of paper. It goes farther then that. I never knew till I dove into it deeper. It is a ride of your life. And with such a great group of people to go with an helped by. |

Hi Tug. I am very worn out a big day listing. As it was the last free listing day and listed 180 items.
Just by looking at ACSC the shading covers 2 shading lines in size. While yours only covers 1 shading line in area.
Many one off printing flaws came about because of the primitive conditions they worked in and these one off printing flaws are called "Tin Sheds" and are of novelty interest only. This situation confuses things greatly when looking for constant printing flaws. But do not let it put you off it is a big part of the learning curve you are on.
Always Happy Stamping. John |

I was very lucky to find these small books, published by Australian Post around 40 years ago. It tells the history of the Kangaroo and Map series, The Definitive stamps of the reign of King George V, The Early Federal Period, 1901 to 1912-13, The Air Mail Stamps, 1927 to 1951, Queen Elizabeth 1952 to 1959, and more. If you are interested in Early Australia, these books are a great asset. If you can find them they will help in learning the Why and How these Stamps were printed. |

This I believe to be 12R33 substituted position (White area beside the left value tablet) and not 7R33 because the 7 was in brown and the 12 was in green. y/n Tug |

Quote: Sorry, but what are you two seeing I am not?
Area of shading left of the left value tablet is missing, (circled) happens on position R33 from plate 7 and R33 from plate 12 because they took some out of plate 7 after they had finished using them and placed into plate 12 as a replacement to some worn out ones. |
