Aussie Al, would this be a more interesting Avatar - I might use this when I'm allowed one.
1965 Xmas variety missing gold (the only one I have) found in an auction lot containing some kids albums.

Nice to see your 1965 Christmas Sydneyboy.

Nice strong colours that look like they are definitly not a faded example!
Do you find picking up Australia in NZ a good hunting ground?

Good Evening KGV collector, you will see on the other thread and some good advise from Aussie Al and other member I was able to recreate this flaw and successfully remove the gold in 30secs, so unfortunately its not the real deal.
As far as getting OZ material here its a great source as there seems to be little interest in the specialized stuff, have picked up some great bulk lots for a song, that's what got me hooked. Unfortunately most of the local dealers here have to operate from home or at stamp fairs as these businesses were inside the red zone, have had a bit of luck through various auctions that operate here. But the rare material becomes harder to find. I got plently of time to play with stamps had a should operation on Monday and have 6 weeks at home, no driving no work.

Well it fooled me. At least is was not a faded item.:)

One of the reasons I never buy decimal flaws.

The experimenting I have done with KGVs scares me heaps.

But I am more comfortable with them.

Could someone help me with where to source reference material/book on pre decimal private perfins especially something that has good coverage of KGV. I have spent the last week finally arranging my KGV perfins and definately need help with identification of many of them. A link where I could purchase reference material would be great. Also once I have completed this mission is anyone keen at some stage to exchange KGV perfins both offical and private? I have accumulated a huge quantity of spares.

Thanks
sydneyboy

link to article on Glebe Coins talking about the KGV 1d Reds.

Mention of aniline red and the fluorescence in eosin dyes reacting to UV light.

Wow. Those KGV 1d Reds are as difficult as GB QV 1d Reds.
Poor quality control has become a philatelic goldmine many years later.
Does anyone actually have a perfect Australian KGV stamp?
I don't have that many but there are minor errors on just about every one.

Interesting point AnthonyUK
Love the bird poop on KGVs head. One of his printing flaws that he would not of liked!

The era in stamp production pre 1920 or even stretch it to pre 1925 is just the best to collect.

After about 1925 the stamp producers had really started to get there acts together when making stamps.

Steel plates and the rest of it and printing flaws have become less and less found in stamp printings by the collector after 1925.

It is sad in a way.

Finally putting my KGV collection into some sort of order and forgot about this flaw I had, its one of the best crown flaws I have seen. I could not find it listed in my catalogue, any thoughts?

Nice printing flaw Sydneyboy. I have a nice "Tin Shed" collection as well.

Classic "Tin Shed". A bit of paper lint or something that caught that bit of the ink.
