AnthonyUK, If you want to locate a perfect KGV stamp, start with the Roos eyes, 99.99% are filled in with ink, showing the eye dot is rare on 1d values. |

This one is called the "Mosaic" by Picasso. I have never looked for the roo's eyes in the 1d's but I will one day! |

Check out how thick the aniline ink is on this 1d red KGV. Hope it shows up! |

KGV your Mosaic" by Picasso is a stunner - I would find it hard to beat that one. Simpily amzazing the post from Finches about the Roo's eye, you learn something new every day, will have my keeping an eye out for one (pardon the pun). |

Hi Sydneyboy.
A good collection of one off printing flaws (Tin Sheds) has an interest and fascination of its own.
If collected with as much variation, numbers as possible and positioned nicely on pages, these stamps should be worth their weight in gold.
Some people would not agree. But the worth to the collector is more than gold and the large flaws that are easily seen, really brings them to life on a page.
Always Happy Stamping. KGV |

Thanks Finches. Not may of mine are that clear. This is probably as close as I have to a good example. And bad (worn plate?) |

I`m sure I`ll found useful information here! I saw some spectacular flaws here, mine has only small ones (single wmk) |

Hi Wadmalatz.
Thanks for sharing.
Interesting looking for printing flaws on KGVs.
Like the circles you put around the flaws. |

I open scaned files with Paint, there I change format to a supported one and in some cases there I can add helping lines, circles etc. I have a question regarding Australian single watermarks: Here`s the back of a 2 1/2 d Roo (guess it`s wmk 8, but I`m not sure). But it shows a frame-line wmk also. (it`s too straight to be a thin, and it`s surely not the frame of the picture side) And here`s a KGV 1 penny violet, the same line can be seen. Are these the margins of a sheet, when watermarks were produced? a sort of guiding line? |

Yes they are the margin lines to the outside stamp sheet. I have a strong liking for corner examples of the marginal lines. On the other side (outside) have found capital letters. The makers mark? If your first stamps wmk has sharp shoulders, like KGVs it is what I call 2nd wmk. If it is fat with rounded shoulders it is (fat boy)1st wmk. If it has rounded shoulders and small (skinny boy) 3rd wmk. When I get some time I am going to play with the circles drawing on stamps. |

A minor point, the bottom of the A is wider on 1st w/m, compared with 3rd w/m |

What would be the best book for the Roos and KGV heads issues? Also what are the prices? |

Thank you Aussie Al and I have a really good question. Can someone explain what Eosin pink is as it is confusing me? And do we have a thread for the Washington-Franklin series? |
