Thanks for your comment, Colin. Humbly, KGV.

So that's a roller cancel [on 1d violet]. A favourite of mine. So clear & the centering is so hard to find. Thanks for the info.

I am an isolated collector.

Rod, would you have a name or names for a Postmark book that includes the KGV era? KGV.

Aaaaah! my friend, please do not open that particular can of worms.
You'll sink under the morass of infinite variety.
This is for stamp collectors who have no hope left,
they have submitted to infinity, even as a "world wide" collector
I look upon the postmark collector as a lost cause

You have (in Australia) several methods, but if you insist, I would advise you in collecting postmarks of your particular state.
There are Ronoed A4 compendiums of postmarks of each state, and they are whoppers.
I have mine of Western Australia, and it is cased in a glass box
in the garage, with a hammer next to it, it states..
"Break Glass in case of boredom"
I have yet to meddle with that horror, it's expensive too!

I have "The Slogan Postmarks of Western Australia" by Brian Whittaker, a member of our stamp club, it's a beauty
but that's only slogans
To grant your wish, you would have to secure all the compendiums, and lift the marks from the dates that qualify.
(even Job would be tested)
I'll dig out a siutable example from my library and post back.

On reflection, perhaps you are better off, posting an image when you have a postmark that arouses curiosity, then the forum can analyse it.
Anyhows here are some examples of Brian's work.

Rod thanks for all the great info.I very much think I will keep this interest to just collecting a good strike. Have a real liking for the planes that come with the air mail strikes.I had no idea it was such a complicated interest.I will keep to penny red shades. That's enough extension stuff of me. Now I can put this issue to rest. Thanks again KGV

Rod: A couple of different types I think I've found. Have not got too many good examples. Just an interest.

Thanks KGV & family.

I know you realise I was just posting tongue in cheek.
Now, doing a back flip,
let me show you some to offer encouragement
Check these out, good postmarks only increase the flavour of our hobby.

The very first postmark on Australian soil.

Good illustration KGV of the differing States.
Western Australia had a Pitney Bowes slogan Canceller No33
the drawing is different however than your examples

Didn't I read somewhere that the AIF mystery was solved, and traced to a particular person? I've never run across one, and I've never sought one out.

You could be right (partly) Cjd,
I wasn't aware it was traced to one person, though
I'll have to put my staff of researchers onto that.
If you run across one, you may well have a cruise.

There is also a gossippy whisper, there could be a KG5 sideface
running around with "NW Pacific Islands" on it.

Now that would be a cruise, in fact probably
worth an upcoming day flight into space.

My one & only treasured N.W.P.I overprint [classified as a Pacific Island Stamp not an Australian, sadly].

Another great collection of info. Thank you. KGV

I found what I recalled reading regarding AIF, but I don't have enough background to judge this Philatelic Database article. Here it is for your own evaluation. (Seems pretty plausible.)

KGVC, that's a great NWPI overprint.

What a ripper! thanks heaps Collin,
you nearly gave me a heart attack, when I read the first prognosis was the "Omrah", it was a ship I had been researching before, as I have a ships menu from 1916
Anyhow it turns out to be (and a famous name too) the "Orontes",

That name was famous later in the 50's bringing English emmigrants to Aust, I came out on her sister ship the "Orion"

Great article thanks for the link.
