Artistic Kansas Cover

Hi I've had this for a while and I thought I would share it with my USA peers and colleagues.
The stamp is useless but the cover is a work of art....literally!

Presumably, the sketch is of the addressee. Very interesting cover, must be of of a kind. Thanks for posting it.

No! It's the ultra-rare quadrisect (on cover!) as an example of the seldom-utilised one-and-one-half cent rate from KC to Chicago.

Hey Rod I was looking on the illustration for a signature!

I just noted the PSM on the illustration, as advised by a prev post.
I find the addressing of the envelope bizarre, is that the delivery address bottom left?
Who'd be a postman?

So my cover is a bit noteworthy! I'll have to print out all the stuff here and the notes I have found to go with the cover. No inclusions in the envelope I'm afraid!

5935 Indiana Avenue, looks up market, would this be from 1902?

One question I have is the portrait printed or is it drawn on the cover? How could I tell?

I would favour drawn, it appears the signature and address is printed,
but I would question why he/she would print the woman's image on all their envelopes.

I would guess printed. The lines look slightly too fine for direct ink work, I would think, especially the signature under the artwork. Examine it under magnification. If you see slightly darker areas in the darkest parts and sometimes at the ends of lines, where ink pooled, it's real drawing. If uniform and the same black as the return address, it's printed.

5935 Indiana Ave.: Looks period or somewhat older. The great Fire of Chicago (1871) led to a lot of brick and stone construction for many years after. Anybody want to run down there and knock on the door?

I've gone over it with X20 magnification and it seems to be an illustration, not printed, I've Google searched the image also and it seems to be unique also.
