I am updating the value of my collection. I came across these early San Marino stamps. I believe the first one is Scott # 7 and the second could be 7a due to the color difference. 7a is worth quite a bit mint so wanted to get other opinions.

Post a picture of both of them side by side. Otherwise, the next reply will be "You can't really tell minor color differences with..."

I think he means scan them together side by side so that differences between them can be compared while helping rule out any variance in how each was scanned separately. Telling colour is difficult online but that would help somewhat when comparing two items.

The bottom stamp is light Ultramarine.You might also check for the watermark and gum if it has it.The gum should have a dark look to it and a bit irregular.(eventually tiny cracks)If it's clear and white & smooth then the stamp is most likely a forgery.
These stamps were comb perfed.The holes must be perfectly circular.The vertical perfs must also match.
Mint Cat prices are for genuine gum,perfectly centered.These stamps are among the most desceptive créations in philately....
